Michigan Education Association Scholarship - Student must be a dependent of an MEA member or MEA-retired member in good standing. Student will attend a Michigan public community/junior college, four-year degree-granting institution or vocational training institution that grants a degree, certification or license. Apply online at https://mea.org/mea-scholarship/. Further information is available in the Student Services Office. Scholarship deadline is February 21, 2019.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship - Applicant must be a Black/African American female senior with a 2.75 or higher cumulative GPA and must be a citizen of the U.S. Applications are available in the Student Services Office. Deadline: February 22, 2019.

Jason Plite Memorial Swimming Scholarship - Will be awarded to a Grand Ledge senior who has been involved in swimming. Applications available in the Student Services Office. Deadline is March 1, 2019.

Jason Plite Memorial Artistic Scholarship - Will be awarded to a Grand Ledge senior. Applicants will present samples of their artwork at a meeting in March. Applications available in the Student Services Office. Deadline is March 1, 2019.

PFCU Scholarship - Available to seniors who are members of PFCU. Must have a 3.0 or higher GPA. Apply online at www.pfcu4me.com under the community tab. Further information available in the Student Services Office. Deadline is March 15, 2019.

Wacousta-DeWitt Masonic Lodge - Applicant must be a senior who plans to attend full-time at an accredited college, university, trade or vocational school. Applications are available in the Student Services Office. Deadline is March 31, 2019.

Grand Ledge Junior Comets Softball Boosters Scholarship - Two $250 scholarships will be granted. Student must have played within the Junior Comets softball program. Preference will be given to those who have volunteered time with the G.L. Junior Comets or had parents who donated time. Applications are available in the Student Services Office. Deadline is April 1, 2019.

Michigan Retailers Association - 21 scholarships will be awarded in Michigan. Student or his/her parent must be employed at a business that is a member of MRA. Apply online at bit.ly/mrascholarships. Deadline is April 1, 2019.

ABC Club of Grand Ledge - Applicant must be a Grand Ledge High School senior. Applications are available in the Student Service Office. Deadline is May 8, 2019.

Saturday School Dates For 2nd Trimester
If your student has been absent 7 or more times in any class this trimester without medical documentation, they are at risk of losing credit and participating in any extra curricular activities.

Saturday School will be held Saturday, January 12th from 8:00-11:00am in the Media Center. Saturday School will also be held on the following dates this trimester:

  • January 26
  • February 9
  • February 23
Please contact the Dean of Students to schedule Saturday School if needed to ensure credit.

The Ledge Yearbook!
Don't forget to order your student's 2018-2019 The Ledge Yearbook! Yearbooks are currently on sale for $70.00 and will only be sold online. On February 1, 2019 the price will increase to $80.00 per yearbook. NOTE - March 17, 2019 is the last day to purchase. Please use school code ID# 13546819 when ordering. CLICK HERE to order.

GLHS Mid-Year Newsletter

3rd Trimester Schedules
All students are asked to review your 3rd trimester schedule. If you have a hole in your schedule or have concerns please make an appointment in Student Services. The deadline for adjustments is February 6th. Students with last names A through K will see Mr. Saade, last names L through Z will see Mrs. Dohm.

GL Varsity Gymnastics
Grand Ledge Varsity Gymnastics traveled to Holt High School on Jan. 9th for their conference opening meet. The Comets were victorious over the combined team from Holt and Mason High Schools. Individual placements include:

  • Sophomore Lizzie Maurer placed first in the all-around competition as well as on floor and beam and also put up a second place finish on bars.
  • Freshman Emily Crofut secured a second place finish on vault and placed third on beam and floor and in the all-around.
  • Freshman Emma Olds placed third on bars and vault.
  • Freshman Amina Vakili secured a second place finish on beam.

On Saturday, Jan. 12th the Grand Ledge gymnasts competed at the East Lansing Invitational against 12 other teams and placed fifth with a team score that increased over 5 points from the meet three days before. In the individual events, the top eight placements were recognized. Sophomore Lizzie Maurer placed second on vault, third place on bars and in the all-around and seventh place on floor.

Comet gymnastics will continue the season by hosting Fowlerville on Monday, January 14th at 6pm in the old gym. PLEASE COME OUT & SUPPORT YOUR GYMNASTICS TEAM! GO COMETS!!!

GL Varsity Pom Team
Congratulations to the Varsity Pom Team for qualifying at Regionals to compete in Class A Division I at States! The team will be competing at the Michigan Pom Association Championship this Sunday at Saginaw Valley State University and then on to the Mid American Pompon State Championship at the Breslin Center on January 27. Good Luck Girls!

Football Weight Lifting
The football team will be having weight lifting sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3:00 p.m. Meet in the weight room and bring a teammate with you!
